Creative Writing A Level

Students will be introduced to various aspects of the craft. The atmosphere will be supportive and encouraging, with helpful feedback from the tutor and the group. You'll learn a lot from one block, but it's recommended to attend both if you can.

Writing exercises will be set for stimuli, and discussion in class.

Creative Writing at Liverpool does not sit as a separate pathway, but works in dialogue with your critical writing in English: we do not think that learning to write can be separated from developing the critical and close reading skills which you use to read literary texts.

Creative Writing is available as a joint honours degree (MA English and Creative Writing).In addition, students taking a degree in English alone are able to select a number of Creative Writing modules as options.There are several undergraduate modules available to help establish creative writing and practice within the study of English Literature.To help you reach this standard, you will be advised and directed by one of the supervisors on the Creative Writing team.Creative Writing graduates work across a wide variety of jobs including: writers, editors, publishers, literary agents, literary event support, literary critics, digital content writers and advertising copywriters.Mary Ward Centre is the adult education centre with a difference.We provide a wide range of subjects for people at all levels and run courses during the day, evening or weekend to suit your timetable.The hardest part about writing is often finding the time to do it.The English with Creative Writing programme allows me to focus entirely on something I am passionate about.Homework assignments will be provided, but students are free to choose their own writing path.There will be plenty of opportunity for sharing work.
